Hi fellas, selling the aforementioned badge on the estand - been asked to put it up for review. had the badge in my collection for around 10 years, can't remember where I got it (possibly J.Cross but can't guarantee that). Been told its a standard zinc with a non standard coating but welcome your opinions.

"Bronze" GABs never existed. There's been "confusion" over the finish loss related to some early brass based GABs which make them look "bronze". In this case, however, your piece is a late war, zinc based Assmann --that originally had a later thinly applied "finish", which probably "mellowed" to the "bronzish" hue seen. Or it could be an unscrupulous spray paint job that's been rubbed to give it some age? Hard to say.
