              Hello my friends,

Yes I will be only be available at weekends for a duration it is 'work' related and it demands my time.........bugger I miss the forum !!!

Well Rene (sorry still can't put the thingy over the last e)

These are a turn up for the books !!!! There are indeed original packets for the flight clasps, I haven't encoutered one like this yet thus far seen.

The U boat spange packet is possible, I would need better pic's and the maker marks on all,and dimensions please.

I'm not happy with Spanish Cross packet to be honest, this is the first example I've ever heard of/seen. Juncker packets believe it or not have some traits to look out for, this packet is also in the wrong format for an 'earlier' packet award, private purchase or other wise to my knowledge. I'm not convinced by this and I'm most dubious of this one for now ?? We'll go through a process though to be safe.

Rene, you have my e mail and I'll call you on the telephone next weekend and we can discuss these to some depth then.

All I can give you is my opinion, I'm not an expert in this field but I am trying to attain some information on the various forms of packaging.

As objective as I try to be and with with some trepidation and a word of caution, don't expect 'positive' feedback on these, I wouldn't put my name to them unless I'd had them in hand firstly then 'enquired' about them so to speak. We'll see though and this may take some time for a 'conclusion', premise wise.

I hope to be able to discuss these next week with you and I'll look forward to it my friend.

I'll need a close up of the paper profile, designation and maker mark along with dimensions for a start......we'll then eliminate possibilities etc as we go along. Do you have the capabilities to black light ? It's not a gospel action, but can in instances help determine the 'prognosis', I do however know what to look for, most people don't really believe it not when using this method and presume if it should be fake expect it to 'illuminate' up like white paper; this is not so. It's best to be thorough from the start with the basic's and we'll take it from there........these items are harder than awards to determine, it's an untouched area but I will breach it

Tom, Allan, Ricky your opinions would be most valid.

              Kind regards,

              Marcus

Just saw all the packets shown being sold as copies too...however there seems to be some new technology in effect as I am unable to pull the pix from the site...so I took a picture of my computer screen...it was the best I could do, anyway, starting price was 35 dollars each..

Great one John, this is what I need to aid me Can you pm me a reference to the site please.

The packet you show has the 'spange' part of the word veering upwards......they are indeed the one in the same.

Well as I said earlier, 'don't expect positive feedback on these'. Johns now confirmed some of my doubts.

Rene you have to be very careful with these boxes and packets, there are genuine boxes/packets that look fake and post war jewellery boxes that look like TR counterparts, not to mention some East German examples. Then you've got older fakes/ and good fakes of today or 1950-60's post war produced packages that are hardly any different.......it's a mine field of by guess and by god

The best elimination is as John has put up, 'sold as fakes' end of story.....an easy conclusion.

                    Kind regards,

                    Marcus

                      Marcus.
I think its that Manion site again, known for lots of fakes and crap. Look at their fake Knight Crosses sold as originals.

                        Hello to all,

What a treasure trove of pure crap. All of these would be extremely rare if not unobtainable issue packets. They would all command very high prices if original. As far as I know, issue packets did not exist for the Spanish Cross. Even if we could overcome that obstacle, the paper looks nothing like the paper used on original packets. The lettering is too small, and the three lines are not centered to one another. The picture of the U-boot Combat Clasp packet is terrible so it is difficult to give an opinion on that one. However, I don't feel I would be going out on the limb by assuming that it is as bogus as the others. They all look to be from the same source. Interesting how three different makers, Schwerin, Friedrich Linden, and G.H.Osang all felt the need to package their clasps in landscape format packets. That is another feature I don't like on the U-boot Combat, Close Combat, and L/W Flight Clasp packets. Again, the lettering is too small on these, the line to line centering is off, and parts of the titles slant upwards while other parts slant downwards. I bet these will be available in any color of the rainbow. These concerns, coupled with the fact that other members have seen these being sold as fakes should eliminate any doubt and confirm the fact that these packets are purely pieces-o-crap.
                        Best regards! Tom
