Pair GAB Badges - Good or Bad?

Tom,
Both of the badges feel the same. Now I know I have to invest in a scale that measures in grams. I still feel the badge on the left is possible not Zink.
Does anyone know if Assman made badge in other metal besides Zink? If so what were they? I also know the hollow backs where made of bunt metal or brass. I looking to find out if the semi hollows were made in something besides Zink.
EricI once flew in a B-17, B-24, & a B-25. Next, I want to fire an 88 round.

Must say that I am a bit suprised as well.
I always accepted both types as being ok. I always took the rough looking ones for being made from pot or monkey metal, not the fein zinc that has that smooth grey look to it.
I bought my first one of those "rough" type Assmanns back in the 1980s, I even showed a whole set of these some time back on the Forum (can´t find the thread though). Nobody thought bad about them then.
Frank, we know that "Afrika" sells fakes and good items. I know he´s had a few of this type Assmann but these are amongst the most common of GABs IMO. I have also had a few going through my hands over the years.I don´t see that for a reason to call these copies per se.
I´m still inclined to think that they are OK.

Hi Skip,
The badge that I showed on the first posting of this thread is also an exact copy (including the flaws on the reverse at 10 and 2 o'clock) of the one in Tuckers book 'Combat Badges Of The Third Reich, Vol 1'.
Now I know that some of the badges shown in the book are deemed questionable by some but I've not heard of this particular entry being 'iffy.
Regards ...
