Very nice addition Graeme. These hollow Muller's are very hard to find, and I don't think I have ever seen one with the karton. Congrats on a fine addition.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Hey Graeme, this is a zinker correct? The reverse hardware setup is soldered directly to the reverse, which makes me think it might be brass, but I have never seen a brass Mueller before. And I think I see zink peeping through the finish on the rifle.
Thanks
Tom

Tom - I assumed that this was a zincer. The directly attached catch is a trait of all the hollows that I have seen, and they have all looked zinc to me. It is strange because they use exactly the same style of "C" catch on the unmarked massive badges, but with a catch plate on those.
Anthony - Please post yours, if you manage to aquire the silver hollow.
I hae looked up what I think is my EM IAB, is this correct?
v
It is not the hollow type but a different kind, also sorry about the scan, I have not used the machine for awhile and it is not very good, I will get better with the next one

Hi Graeme
Nice addition...the hollow attributed Muller examples are tough to track down, especially the bronze class.
In regards to the catch, my opinion would be it is the larger sized "C" style catch that can be found on the earlier oval hinged unmarked Muller solid examples. The one Anthony posted has the smaller type.
Yes, your is also an unmarked Ernst Mueller. Great condition as well, very nice.
All these EMs are pretty hard to find, I only have the marked examples in my collection. Still missing the unmarked solid like yours, and the hollow one like Graeme's.

Hi Fischer
Yes I absolutely agree.
The "C" catch I mentioned is a real "C", whereas the type on Anthonys badge, is a mishapen "C". The point I was trying to make was that on two variations of zinc badge the same catch was used with and without a catch plate.
Nice badge Anthony
Here is my example of the type Fischer mentioned, and these are quite hard to find also.
