    Nice unusual IAB....

    Hi guys,

I would not usually touch an IAB missing the catch. However....

I saw it had the A on the wreath.... not common. So it arrived today. Double marked. I believe these are very uncommon. Hope you all like.

I think it was bronze grade.... seems to be some wash remaining?!

      Hi Will,

I agree, a very uncommon IAB to find. Even without the catch, I would have picked it up as well. Good score on this rarity.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

        Thank you Tom,

I only found one other of these while searching the WAF archives.
I would be interested to know how many are out there...

        Cheers, Will

            Hi Will

I have seen a couple of these, and as you say hard to find.

From your pics, I am not sure it was bronze, looks more silver to me? But you have it in hand.

            regards
            Graeme

              Hi Graeme,
I think it's a bronze grade. I think the pics are making it look deceiving. You can see the bronze wash in the recesses of the rifle in the close ups. Just my opinion though.

Hope these pics show the "finish" remaining.

And a couple more. The reverse has most bronze visible.

                  Cheers, Will

Hi Will. Looks like a nice heavy Assmann. The finish looks like the silver brennlac that has some (bronze) patina in it. Great badge with a great look to it. --Rgds, Ken

Thank you Ken, that is an interesting observation.
I will say it is less a dark bronze.... more golden if anything.

                      Its a nice looking highlight
