Opinions on this Close Combat Clasp

    Hi all,

Could you, please, take a look at this piece?

Do you think it is original?

The center is magnetic but the hook is in the reverse side!

It has the designer mark at the left hand side (FEC.W.E. Peekhaus Berlin) but I couldnĀ“t see any mark at the right hand side.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Alex.

I'm not too sure about this one. Pretty crappy photos missing details.
The pin and hinge look like Deschler but the clasp isn't flat like a Deschler. A Deschler would be unmarked anyway. I don't see any type of crimp at the back plate either.
The reversed hardware could just be a Monday morning thing. I've seen a few real badges of different types with this trait.
I can't say good or bad without better photos, but based on what I see so far, I would stay away from it.
    Regards,
    Frank

        Hi Alex,

Interesting clasp, and I think worthy of some better closeup pics. But ultimately I am agreeing with the others that this one is likely a reproduction. The obverse looks like a mixture of an F&BL clasp and a butterknife fake, weird combination! And the reverse hinge and catch looks soft, not what you would expect from original wartime hardware IMO. The lack of crimps is also weird.

But this is a fake that I don't think I have ever run across, so I would love to see some better pics to study it a bit more if you can manage and post them.

        Thanks

        Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Someone sure went though a lot of trouble trying to artificially age this thing. --Rgds, Ken
