          Skip,
The obverse looks good to me. The hinge/catch are a bit different than what is accepted as war time Souval. Granted, the hinge is sloppy as on most anything Souval but the catch IS different than war time (IMHO). I would most likely throw this one out. (These Souval's can be a crap shoot, if you know what I mean)

            Hi Skipy,

I tend to agree with Chet, certainly the reverse on yours and Jan's isn't really what I would expect to see on an RS.

That said I really don't have much to compare it to. I'll first post 2 pics of an RS John (militarybuyer) once had for sale (I hope you don't mind John ). This badge has the normal RS set-up and also lacks the stepped cutout visible on yours and Jan's when looked upon from the reverse on the left side between the barrel and the wing.

The second badge is a known copy, cleary different from all others.

            Hope this helps

I agree as well with what has been said regarding the badge. I recently saw a R.S. that was imo a very good copy, the obverse was spot on but the metal composition was very weird and had flaws in it from during the casting process. It also was very thick at top of badge and became very thin towards the bottom.

Thanks to all who took the time to replied. So we tend towards copy on this RS then?
I personally was the opinion that its a good Ășn. This is probably a die casting. Detail is very good and the material would appear to be zinc. The only real difference to Jans would be that my one has a flat wire stock catch and Jans a round wire one.
Non the matter, I will be holding onto it and put it in my "questionable" box.

have a look at this for more info

Skip - see this thread from ages ago. I had this unmarked Heer Flak which I am sure is a Souval but wasnt confident it was pre 45 so let it go. The catch bothered me

                        Regards
