    Deumer IAB "weiss" in Bag

Here's an Infantry Assault Badge you don't see every day. It recently was acquired during a house cleaning in Germany. As you can see, it's a mint Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen made by Wilhelm Deumer in Lüdenscheid. The badge shines like a mirror. The issue bag has the manufacturer's name on the reverse and on the front, the type of badge, which reads "Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen, weiß" ("Infantry Assault Badge, white"). I am wondering if "weiß" was the original designation for the Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber (Silver). Or was this unique to Deumer and if so, did Deumer later change the title to Silber? Also, I am assuming that this is an early badge. Is that correct?

      Hello

This is the second such set I have seen. It also had the so-called "Deformed Leaf" with Vertical Crimp hardware variant along with the Wilhelm Deumer "Weiß" labeled packet.

A great find, congrats on acquiring this set.

      Best Regards, fischer

Andy, yes, you need sunglasses to look at this badge. I first tried photographing the badge outside and the shine almost blinded me. I'm not so sure I would have wanted to be the German soldier wearing such a badge in combat on a bright sunny day because he could have been easily spotted by the enemy.

            Hi Barry

From those pics it certainly looks in the best of condition..

Crimped set ups are generally thought to be later, rather than early, and in some cases you can see a progression from soldered set ups to crimped set ups in a manufacturer (FZS for instance).

            regards

              Hi Barry,

Great find! Like Don says, this is only the 2nd time we have found such an IAB in a Deumer-marked packet, so always nice to see these. Thanks for sharing, a beauty for sure.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
