    Hi Peter,

Uuumm, does this one qualify as a drooping barrel, I wonder ? The chest on the eagle dosen't have the L/53 traits if you can go by that on a little mini.

There are major differences certainly, just about everthing, grass area, tank, eagle ! It's not like mine, but it's on a level par in detail I think.

I would guess that this could be a different maker perhaps. Perhaps Peter we should wait the the PAB experts on this one.

I really like yours though I like the fact it's cut out under the barrel, very nice.

Until Phil, Skip and I were talking over these with a beer, as you do of course, I didn't even realise the mini's were detailed to the degree you could determine a maker or in fact makers went to these lengths on such things as stickpins.

    Kind regards,

    Marcus

      Hi Marcus.

I couldn´t agree more, the knowledge amongst our fellow members is
vast to say the least. I also believe our minis are from two different
manufacturers, but if this isn´t a drooping barrel, I´m gonna have to
get new glasses . Who said life was going to be easy . I really
enjoy this friendly chat, but it´s getting late, and I have to hit the
sack . Hopefully there is a new day tomorrow.

So there we have your difference guys, one is the small and one the big mini. I like them both though.

Drooping barrels are also to be found on the early, hollow Daisy type PAB, although the eagle on Peters reminds me of a F&R.

            Hi Guys,

PAB minis, that's probably worth a specialisation on it's own. I once tried to tackle it but didn't really get very far. The biggest problem is recognizing them based mostly on pictures that are to small in combination with the fact that most of them are unmarked. Even if you have the possibility to handle them it's difficult to know what you hold if you don't have your mini collection next to you to make a direct compare.

However the Hymmen mini probably is the exception to the rule. Certainly after seeing Peters smaller buntmetall mini I'm absolutely confident that the mini's Marcus and I found in Berlin can also be attributed to Hymmen. Although as mentioned by Skip the first pattern Daisy also features the drooping barrel, the daisy design is much less condensed than the L/53 design.

Altough impossible to tell for sure my best guess on the second buntmetall mini posted by Peter (post 15) would also be the F&R design. The drooping gun on that one most likely is the result of a little blow or it was bend during the production process.

Here is a scan of my unmarked Hymmen mini. They even tried to polish the highlights on this little bugger.

and finaly a compare between the Hymmen (middle) and what I believe to be the F&R design (buntmetall bronze to the left, zinc silver to the right) .
