    copper coated flatback

I just received this scooped out flatback ( type 2) in the mail... a very hard to find maker in silver ..and this one has a copper undercoating. Look at the eagle's right wing tip and you can see the copper!

    Dan,
That's pretty neat. I've yet to see an example by this maker that is copper coated. That would attest to the condition of the badge which is superb. As we know, most of the time these badges look like the same old crap zincers. This one is nice!

    Zinc stinks!

                  Dan,

EWE and RS did, at least; maybe others? ... this EWE reminds me of the silver finish on your great flatback, only on your badge it's in much better shape.

                  Best,

                    Hi Dan,

Great badge in excellent condition, congrats on such a fine addition.

The silver plating must be really thick and well done as I don't see any traces of a copper underlayment. Even on the right wing like you say, I still can't see it. Can you provide a closeup of what are you looking at?

                    Great badge!

                    Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                          Jan Arn,
I thought that I remembered that badge of yours from way back. I looked in the old threads but couldn't find it. Perhaps my memory has failed me?

Here's another scan that shows the copper a little better. There's a big spot of copper on the right edge of the eagle's wing but you can't see it from this angle very well. I just bought a new computer and haven't loaded my camera software yet.
                              Dan
@ Jan ..your scans don't show the copper very well either.
