I have never seen a solid zinc Assmann with a set up like that, the maker mark looks also different to me, although to tell you the truth I like the badge nice one, but I don't think that its an original wartime piece.

This is a cast fake IMO. Very weak details, casting pits on the reverse and crappy hardware are all red flags here.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I don't agree to that. If its a fake a think the details are quite good.

                    A definite fake.

Bogus maker mark, along with all the other problems pointed out in this thread. Known Assmanns do not have that profile.

The following badge is another fake, sporting a different maker mark and different hinge, but they are from the same "mold".

Check out the two areas highlighted, and the many other identical areas..

btw, this is fake # 1 in the GAB fakes area.

                    regards
                    Graeme

Thank you for a very good answer. It's much more worth than "votes" and "feelings".

Well, the guys that helped you out would surely appreciate it if you would let your pictures stay in the thread for future reference. Now it is completely useless...

That is not a fine gesture.

I am not sure why they were no longer available, but fortunately I had saved them and have put them back.

This is why I do not like links to other sites or external image areas, and I hope you guys understand when I hassle members about it.

                            cheers
