I think it's real as hell and it's offered at a very fair price IMHO.
It certainly isn't a textbook Heeres flak badge......
I would gamble that it will be attributed to a known type someday as this hobby's progression has been in the past few years.
    Considered buying it myself

Who are the Heer Flak experts in the forum? I'd like to hear from them.

        Thanks in advance,
        Mike

Original Souval without reverse hardware. Interesting variant catch. Lacks cutout which you see sometimes. I think the price is reasonable consideringthe rarity and condition.

Was surfing the forum and saw this example of a IAB with what looks like similar hardward to the Flak I'm buying in the first post of this thread. What do you guys think. The IAB is described as a "Shuco/Wiedmann".

              Your thoughts please,
              Mike

We have no info on Wiedmann making Heer Flak badges. But it is plausible. THey made Luft Flak, so why not? The Vienna design is a good probability, although I think the gray back heer flak is a top contender. Look Mike, we just don't know enough about the various Vienna designs and producers. Garlasco's book was ground breaking, but even he admitted it was a first shot at a huge subject that wasn't looked at before.

Bottom line is I think this is an original badge. I THINK it is a souval. That is the best I can give you. Maybe someone else has something to add...

Thanks Nick, what do you think of the reverse hardware in particular? Looks promising I think. The catch looks the same, and we can only imagine what the Pin/hinge assembly looked like.

                    Thanks for your opinion,
                    Mike

Agreed, though a better angle would help!

I'm leaning toward Souval myself, but like Nick says, we just don't know (yet).
