    Hi guys,

here is a photo of a brave soldier ( Peter Boeckendorf)

looking closed to his ccc it seams to be in stoff and not in metal , with a strange form....

    Looks like cloth material, embroidered.

Is it a wartime altered pic? It looks like a photo taken before the award was given, and then it was painted on. Happened alot with rk winners. First time I'll have seen a CCC added though.
      Just my two cents

            Hi,

Interesting picture indeed; it rased two questions to me:

            1) why would someone add a CCC to this picture?

            2) he is wearing a German cross; may this be a golden CCC?

did some research in my books and found some details on:

            Peter Böckendorf
            born 09 may 1913 Neuss/Rhein
            Unteroffizier Zugführer 3./Füs.Btl 72

            Iron cross 2nd class 24 december 1941
            Irom cross 1st class 31 july 1943
German cross in gold 30 september 1944

Close Combat Clasp in Gold (date unknown)

            Nice find.

              Hi ,

@ deejay, yes He won ccc in gold.

I have not the original photo, I am not sure but I don't think it's a photo montage.....but it's possible that this ccc can be painted from original photographer, was usual to paint decorations on photos 8 ritterkreuz, EKI, etc...)...I don't know ....this is the best resolution I have.

                Hi Ivan,

Yes, I have seen this picture before, I believe it was added into the photograph. Looks specifically at the oakleaves, they look hand drawn. Also, the CCC looks brighter than all the other awards in that photograph, which is another reason to think that it was added into the photo and not something he was wearing when the picture was taken.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Boeckendorf was awarded the DK on Sept. 30, 1944. There is no date for awarding of the CCC in gold, so that tells me he had the DK before he was awarded the CCC in gold. If there is no date listed for Boeckendorf, I would think it was a very late awarding, or possibly postwar IMO. CCC in gold recipients were well documented, especially in the mid-1944 timeframe when Hitler was wanting to hand these out personally.
