    Infantry assault badge silver

As i am just going through some of my stuff i found this unworn IAB. It came in that box and i was always wondering if this is the box this piece was given in. Surely somebody put that in that box before 1945.It comes from the estate of the Kc winner J.Lederer . He had 3 IAB left in his estate 2 of them with avious traces of wearing. On the back of the box is the datum when he was given the IAB. Questions to you guys again (((-: what maker is that piece ?? Material looks like buntmetall to me.

    Hello,

You have an IAB made by Schauerte & Hohfeld (S&H). It looks like it is zinc to me, but not sure. Base plates are typically used for the hardware on zinc badges and the hardware on buntmetal badges is usually soldered directly to the badge.

Anyway, great badge to have in a collection and in excellent condition. Congrats.

The box I have no idea about.

    Best regards,
    Eric

Nice IAB again. The box looks like the typical private purchase box which can have a variety of color patterns, both look great.

Sorry, I missed the other question.
Looks like a zincer to me as well, it would have a "brass" color base metal if it was tombak. You can see on some of the edges the dark color zinc base metal showing.

What is the other date on the box and for what award, the date looks like 18-8-41?

              Hi Skalp,

I agree with the others, a fine original Schaurte & Hohfeld, in very minty condition.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Nice IAB from an unknown maker made of zink.
                Best regards, Andreas

                      Hi Skalp......

.....A very nice TR era IAB.

However, the maker is still unknown, though some believe it was made by S&H.

                        A beautiful IAB for sure

A shame you can't post a nice clear in focus shot of the eagle.

It would also be nice to see a blown up pic of the IAB in wear if the quality is there.

                        congrats on such a group

                        regards

But as he had a few IAB´s i do not know if that is the one he wears on the pic.skalp<p><img src="http://cdn01.trixum.de/upload2/E/5/E58tkAISxLhl132282727837S.jpg"></p> <p><img src="http://cdn01.trixum.de/upload2/q/i/qiu9m5lCzkXt132282728298S.jpg"></p> <p><img src="http://cdn03.trixum.de/upload2/F/E/FEkq6SiCBMlA132282728734S.jpg"></p> <p><img src="http://cdn01.trixum.de/upload2/W/e/We6nIhFurJwo132282755195S.jpg"></p> <p><img src="http://cdn01.trixum.de/upload2/f/z/fzGPcbj8XVpq132282755618S.jpg"></p> <p><img src="http://cdn03.trixum.de/upload2/7/T/7TqrIC1fcHEY132282756159S.jpg"></p>

                            Hey Gerd,
The badge in the photo looks to be a S.H.u.Co. design IAB from here, possible he had 2 of these badges?

like i said he had minimum 3 IAB´s. The one shown in the box was probably never worn. Here is another one of his.And the bars i also found. <p><img src="http://cdn01.trixum.de/upload2/e/D/eDPoHFSyWVb3132283549973S.jpg"></p> <p><img src="http://cdn03.trixum.de/upload2/N/D/NDOA9h8wKsJT132283550361S.jpg"></p> <p><img src="http://cdn03.trixum.de/upload2/p/H/pH2g5FCJkK6v132283550799S.jpg"></p> <p><img src="http://cdn02.trixum.de/upload2/h/e/hemIu9dnFjYH132283553946S.jpg"></p> <p><img src="http://cdn01.trixum.de/upload2/q/u/quB2w4J715lK132283554371S.jpg"></p>
