    An earlier NS Juncker IAB...

Thanks to Frank, I am able to post images and do a weight comparison on two (NS) IABs in my collection. This piece is a little earlier, weighing in at 16.1g as opposed to 15.4g on the later (early) piece. I don't know if it was me or the coffee, but I had a hard time getting a nicely "centered" shot. Anyway, this badge is a little thicker, hence the weight.

Thanks Dave. I'm not greedy, just curious, so you'll be the 1st to know if I decide to sell either/or. I'm having a tough time deciding which one to keep? They both have their strong suits. What do you guys think? If you had to keep one?

I too would be happy with either, I do like the bottom one as it shows the original frosting in the recesses. I would be happy as a clam if you gave me the opportunity to buy one as I was just kidding and didn't think you would take it as a serious request. I would be in your debt for such an offer.
As you know I have been looking for years for one of these.

Actually, they both have both have frosting remaining in the recessed areas. It's just that the earlier one has a higher sterling content, which brings on less patina than the later piece. However, in terms of "character", I give the edge to the early one. In terms of overall "finesse", the edge goes to the early piece. Here's the backsides...

Yes they both do have frosting, but like you said the earlier one shows up "brighter" than the later one, which is what catches my eye. Like I said before though I would take either of them since I have a hard time even finding one for sale let alone a choice between two of them.

For now, I need to sleep on it, but will ultimately keep one. Hard to describe them with just pics alone too. As many of you know, badges often "look" much different "in hand". However, although "different", these compare nicely. --Just that, one has "real" character and the other "finesse". This is something a one-dimensional picture (even at 3/4 angles) cannot describe. The eagle on the "later" has less definition on the beek, but the head has a slight forward tilt and the wreath rises up a little higher on the LS than the RS. It's neat to see it "in-hand". The earlier one has primo (consistent) balance in the wreath thickness all the way 'round...hence the "finesse" factor. Here's a closer look at the eagles... **Both these badges are different to the "early" early one I had 10yrs ago...

I missed it as soon as I sent it off and now I'm seeing it again
I didn't realize it was your second.
                    Congrats.
I'd like first right of refusal if you wouldn't mind
