    Badge PIN authentication

I just sold this GAB to a novice collector here on the forum and he believes the pin to be replaced and wants to know the maker as well.

    Does anyone know the maker?

    Thanks,

    Chuck

    Hi Chuck,

Its an early, semi-hollow Rudolf Karneth.

Can we see some pics of the entire pin, and also some side shots of the hinge area with the pin open?

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I don't know if the pin was replaced, but it does look repaired IMO.
Agree with Tom on the maker early RK.

        Thanks guys!

I have no more pictures and he obviously has no way of providing photos either as he asked me to do so. I dug these out of my "trash" having deleted all the others.

I can say that the pin had a perfectly flat tip and that the solder joins at the hinge and catch are all plated the same as the rest of the badge.

The catch solder looks to be covered in finish, but to me the hinge solder does not. May just be the pics, but the two look different IMO.

            Hi guys,

If you look to the right of the hinge, you can see some pretty clear discoloration from heating and soldering. This would be hidden by the silver finish if it was done at the factory IMO, so my thought is that its been resoldered. But really its hard to make such a determination on 1 single picture of the reverse, without angled closeups of the areas in question. Why not have the new owner of the badge post some additional pics?
