    Heersbergfuhrer badge: Value?

    My landlord came into the shop I rent from him a couple weeks ago and we were talking about his time in the ETO as an Army recruit. At the end of the war they were taking badges and awards from the troops comming out of the mountains. He brought in a little box with a few tinnies, a decent IAB in silver, and some other , non compelling stuff. But in the bottom of this box was an original Heersbergfuhrer badge! I mean the real deal, honest to God issued badge.

    I want it. I told him of its limited issue, and how rare they are, but i am unsure of it's value. I would like to offer him a fair price for this badge yet I have never seen one offered for sale. Any ideas on just what they are worth? I am 100% sure of it's authenticity. Thanks.

      Formans 3rd Edition gives a value of $2000

      ...but I would bet you could sell them all day for that.

      Real ones are scarce. I would love to see pictures of one from out of the woodwork, is it possible? Is there any enamel damage?




      And you have me wondering what is "other, non compelling stuff" ?
