    Gebrüder Wegerhoff PAB in bronze

Hello , I picked this GWL Pab up lately, in an auction in Germany. It came with the award document. I thought I would post it up for fellow members to have a look at. I hope you like it with its document. There is a bit of bronze finish remaining to it. The set up on the reverse seems right, going by the PAB books by Phillip de Bock.

    regards John

No probs with the badge. Hardware is correct for that maker and has plenty of it's original finish. Does the "docit" have direct provenence to the badge?

Hi, they came together from the auction, they were listed as one item amongst a multitude of militaria lots, although not so much Third Reich. I havent had the time yet to really discuss them with the owner of the auction house who I know well.

Thanks for your comments on the badge.

        regards John

Nice PAB John, Aside from the Juncker, it's one of my favorite makers.
You seem to be on a roll friend. Keep it up!!

You can find Juncker PAB´s on every corner, finding such a well preserved GWL, that is not that easy...

                    Regards,

                    Daniel

Cheers Daniel, IMO you are right, but alas Junckers I think are more saught after.
Nevertheless I really like this one.

                      regards John

                        Hello John,

A very nice badge & document. The GWL is definitely a hard one to find. The document is signed by Generalmajor Erwin Mack as Commander of the 23. Panzer Division. He only had command of the division for about a month and was killed in action on August 26, 1942, by a Soviet mortar barrage at Nowo Poltawskoje. As nice and scarce that this Panzer Badge is, the document is so much scarcer.

                        Best regards,
                        Tom

                          Wow Tom,
I was going to research the signature when I got a little more time. Thank you so much for sharing the information on Erwin Mack. This has turned out really well on this set.
Thanks again for your input. I will look out for a picture of the General major, it would be interesting to see what he looked like.

                          regards John

I agree with Rhidian here, it took me a long time to find one myself.

                              Hi Den, thanks.
Your badge has quite a bit more finish on it I think.
                              Thanks for posting it up.
