    Whats the connection between the quality and the date?

    Several makers iron crosses, and badges were made higher quality products during 44-45 than in the early period.

      The "connection" to this being made "later" lies in it's die characteristics and lack of finishing. How much later is the question... We may never know.

        After my first comment, I would just like to clarify that I was ONLY pointing out that a badge that I feel is most likely early production, had some finishing issues. Usually badges we believe to be early are associated with quality finishing.
        Even though these have finishing issues, I would guess they are early production.

        It is not always easy to tell exactly the timeline of badges so lets not over speculate on these issues and just enjoy what a great badge it is. Regarding the maker some guys feel it is known, and others want more evidence or actually to see it discussed on this forum.

        Great badge Hans.. I would love it..

              Because once Hitler declared "total Krieg" in 1942 stratigic metals were restricted for use in the production of arms and armaments!

                Yes. I've heard that looonngg time ago, but there are collectors/dealers who think otherwise. I'm open minded too, so I'm open to exceptions to a rule, if can be proven, of course.
