    New IAB opinions please

    Hello collectors,

I recently bought this IAB and it is my first one really, there are no mm to indicate the maker but the seller said it is a Franke & Co. but I have no means to verify that except to ask for your opinion. Is it a Franke IAB?

I tried to have detailed pictures to make it easier on you !

    Thanks
    Hamdy

Appears to be an original "FCL" zinc based IAB with a lot of finish remaining. Welds look like a "Monday" job, but the hardware looks correct for this maker. Wait for more input though.

Agree with PC on this, nice Franke & Co. If you plan to collect IAB's I would suggest Sascha Webers book on the Infantry Assault Badge. The most important reference IMO an IAB collector can have.
You can get it here as well as other great reference materials

          Thanks

Thanks guys. I will definitely need to get specialized books for this hobby, one at a time for now. I wish there was just one good reference for each Wehrmacht branch (army, etc.) instead of one reference for each badge type.

That would make for a valuable reference, but it would end up being multiple volumes. The panzer guide is two volumes while the IAB and GAB are each one book, I think they are abit outdated (Still just as valuable, but abit has been learned of other badges with some now having specific makers attached rather than being unknowns).

However, the IAB book is still a must ofcourse, I too recommend it

*Forgot to mention the CCC book, the para book (mix of luft and army) along with the german cross and Iron Cross references.*

              Hi Hamdy

Can you post a straight on pic and close up clear pics of the head and the rifle area. IMO the surface looks a little grainy, but it may just be the pics

              cheers
