I wouldnt do anything crazy like that but I would read this tread and take both bits of information and combine them. I also kind it rather difficcult to judge these tanks when they are not on a strip...especially on this occasion when something just doesnt look right.

I never posted my Non-magnetic TDB because its a type 1 so it rather irrelevant. But if you look through my "started thread" you can see it.

Here is the best thread regarding TDB's:

Okay...here is my TYPE 1 nonmagnetic TDB. These are old photos but I have a scanner now so I will scan it if someone wants scanned copies for their files.

Sensational. Love the "cut" on the type 1. Is that a silver? example Chris? Or just my screen?

              Bad

I don't like it. And "if" there are non-magnetic originals, I've never seen one in my over 40 years of studying & collecting these. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Good Luck

Hi Tom. I bought your book when it first came out in 2000. I imagine any serious collector of these has a copy. Excellent reference and wont be "throwing" mine out. However, I can't fault Chris's. What do you think about Ron's. Someone obviously liked it on the "general" side. Please comment.

Fair enough...I feel very comfortable that there are nonmagnetic originals out there in the world. But maybe I just feel comforable because I have one?

The tank does appear to be nickle silver...I will check it out again when I get home.

                  Regards,
                  Chris G.

I wonder if you would like it if I told you it was magnetic? My TDB has all the detail you would expect on a type 1 and has the same identical prongs and backplate along with a good tab.

Another type 1 from the deejay thread...

Can anyone comment on Ron's? Lots of brass showing on his.

The original thread (Keep in mind that I know absolutely nothing about the finer points of these, and defer to Christopher's knowledge)............
