    Hi Tom,



    maybe I am a little ignorant here, but why would they change a needle system on a fake badge? You can clearly see, that there was something else attached on the badge. Maybe I am total in the wrong here, but I like this badge.

      Hi Daniel,

      I think what you are seeing is the remnants of the original hardware on the original badge that was used to make this copy. We see it all the time with Staegemeir badges, his fakes will pick up all the nicks and dings (and old solder marks) from the 1 original badge he used to cast his fakes from. So then all the fakes that are made have all the same nicks and dings.

      Looking at all my arrow marks, you can see all the exact same marks and dings. Its impossible that original badges will have all these same dings, wouldn't you agree? Especially the mark to the right of the catch, it is EXACTLY THE SAME!

      As to why fakers would switch up the hardware on their fake badges, I think they do this all the time. Especially on a fake badge that is identified as a fake in a book, such as the GAB book. The fakers now have an incentive to change up the hardware a bit so it doesn't look the same as the fake shown in the book. We can also see this with fake CCCs. After my CCC book came out, we started seeing the same old FLL & F&BL fakes, but with the maker marks taken off to try and make them look different.

          Fakes made by Galvanoplasty

          Hi there,
          i find it very interesting what you comment here. The point is, how can a first original been copyied so perfectly that even the flaws (dings and dents) are taken onto the fake copy?
          So, after long evenings of searching y found the method of Galvanoplastics. For your ease, i will not referr to the books but only the resumed version you will find in the links to wikipedia.
          This method by the way, has been used since its very first moment of invention to copy and fake ancient coins!!!!!
          So Staegmeyer also doesnt other thing than Galvanoplasty.
