    RS&S PAB Oddity?

    Gents,

I've not come accross this one before and a search has come up with thoughts that this company didn't make PAB's.

I don't like the beak or flat back but any other thoughts would be most welcome.

    Thanks as always,

    Angus

    Angus,
RS&S is not recognized as a maker of PAB's. The one you have pictured looks poorly made. The catch is certinaly not a accepted type. You say it has a flat back? If so, this is not good sign either. I would say it's a fake.

Here is a picture of a fake RS&S PAB to compare. I think these can fool a lot of collectors because they have fairly decent details in the grass area and pebbling in the oak leaves. Note the goofy looking eagle head. Also the maker mark is a pretty good copy.

          Lorenzo,
The badge you show has a different catch. The hinge might be different also but the picture doesn't show it all that well. Your pictured badge is of far better construction as opposed to the other.

Hi Chet. Here is a blow-up of the mark and catch. Catch looks like it is directly soldered to the badge....maybe a replacement?

                Many thanks guys!

You've certainly confirmed my thoughts, The level of detailing on the badge you posted (Lorenzo) is quite scary. Well for me anyway.

Thankfully the eagle head and claws are awful!
                Thanks again!

It is indeed a very good copie that is completely "Aurich" based.
