Actually he was a Schuma...so I wonder what kind of things did he witness during his anti-partisan service...Schuma 115 was an Ukrainian unit if I remember correctly.

Witness? Or do. Ukrainians were known for their incredible brutality. They used a lot of them as KZ and Death Camp guards.
