    2 nice PAB

    Hello Collectors,

here I´d like to show two of my PAB:

the left one is a S&L,

the right one a massive 7 wheeler.

I thought, the left one is the same maker as Eddie´s new addition, but he told me it´s a S&L.....very similar these makers.

    bye bye

    Hi Martin,

    Two very nice pieces!

The set up of the Juncker set up PAB and the S&L is indeed very identical but both are completely different designwise!!

Don't think I have ever seen a late pattern Meybauer with that amount of finish on it either!
    Kind regards,
    Giel

        Hello Martin,
they are two nice PABs and the rest of the guys have posted some nice pictures of their badges.

The one on the left that you think is a S&L, I am fairly sure is identified as a Zimmerman who used the same reverse set up as the Juncker badges but had the raised areas for the pin and hook to mount in to whereas the Juncker badge has recesses cut out to mount the hardware .
Also on a Zimmerman badge the die fault underneath the barrel on the reverse of the badge got progressively worse as the war went on.

All in all 2 nice additions to your collection

        All the best
        Doug

            Hi Martin,

Two very nice PABs my friend, with the 7-wheeler being the highlight as they are near impossible to find with such a good amount of finish remaining.

Doug, the link to Zimmermann was made several years ago, but since then there has been much more evidence to suggest the true maker was indeed S&L. You are right, the reverse hardware is similar to some Zimmermann-marked badges, but that is where the link ends I'm afraid. This same reverse hardware can be found on S&L-marked badges and there is alot more evidence that points to S&L being the true maker. Perhaps the biggest connection is that S&L was the most prominent 57-badge maker and they used the same wreath and tank design (S&L likely modified their original master die to create the 57 PABs).

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

              Hi Martin

Two absolutely beautiful examples The S&L finish is such a nice bronze finish.

Giel, you have mentioned Meybauer several times in threads. Could you please summarise in this thread how the connection was made and how solid that connection is. Thanks

Dan, I never get tired of seeing that badge

              regards
              Graeme

Tom, thank you very much for that very useful information.
I am still on a massive learning curve as far as badges are concerned.
I was using Mike’s site (God bless him) as my guide through the minefield of PABs

I am now more than ever confused with the link between S&L, Juncker and Zimmerman badges

                >>>I’ll keep learning

                All the best
                Doug
