If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

do they make these without the swastika cutout as well? I asked for straight on shots but this is what I got...

              William,
Yet another one of my favorite fakes. Indeed, they did come without the cutout. I've not seen one but I hear tell that there are massive examples as well.

                    Hi Guys

Has anyone studied these closely and know what base material is used to construct these hollow "toucan" examples?

                    Best Regards, fischer

About 10 years ago, I remember seeing the toucan fakes with non-cutout swastikas, that is how they used to come. But as originals with cutout swastikas became more desirable with the help of the internet, I started seeing more and more of these toucan fakes with cutouts. I chalk it up to fakes just trying to put a new spin on an old fake.

And it works too! I find myself walking the aisles at the SOS or MAX and spotting a cutout swas and my heart skips a beat for a second, only to look closer and see it is a toucan
