A Zimmerman I believe. I have a couple of concerns though but I am paranoid after all. All the Zimmermans in my files have at least one headlight with a rim around it (I post one to show you what I mean) and I would like to see straight on shots of the front and back. Also on the reverse of the Swaz the metal looks cast but it could just be the reflection off the finish.
Where is Philippe when you need him???

        Hi guys,

I have two Zimmermann PAB's and both also have the rim on each headlight.
I'll post a picture of my silver.

It's hard to see from the scans I just posted but the rim around each headlight is very well defined on this silver badge and also on my bronze version..

              Mark,
You've got yourself a nice Zimmermann.

                  Hi Mike,
It's pretty hard to see this die flaw on the reverse of Mark's Zimmermann, do you have a better shot of it that you could post?
                  Thanks in advance..Dan

                    Hi Mark,

No problem this is an original earlier zinc sc Zimmermann PAB in very nice condition. The fact that the rims are gone IMO is the result of wear in that area. On the other hand the rims aren't as well defined on all so called Zimmermann's. This already started with the very early buntmetall versions where the left headlight lacks every detail and and looks more like a football.

Dan here is Mark's pic with the typical dieflaw highlighted. This flaw isn't present on very early zinkers and also won't be found on the very late versions wit the crimped reverse setup.

                      Thanks Philippe..

My bronze Zimmermann is the early type with the same set-up as Mark's badge and my silver is the late war type with the crimped hinge that you mentioned, so that would explain why neither of my badges have this die flaw that Mike mentioned. You must be some kind of mind reader when it comes to PAB's

Philippe, I am still confused. I have looked at all my PABs (only 22) and all of my photos of pabs and Mike's PAB site and cannot find a Zimmerman PAB with headlights like this. They are conical and it doesn't look like wear to me unless the badge has been refinished.

I would need to see straight on front and reverse shots to tell for sure. Weights and measurements would also help. Remember the "Daisy" fiasco we just went through.

On the back this area should be of interest. The metal has a wierd texture behind the Swaztica.

As for the die flaw- if they used a real Zimmerman as a model for the mold (assuming it is cast) then the die flaw would be there.

I hope this is a good PAB because it has more good about it than questions but I would like to satisfy myself that this is the case. I hate to think that the fakers are getting this good.

                            Hi Don,

I think we really need close ups of the headlights to see what really happend.

Anyway I tried to blow up the right headlight and there you can see that at one point the rim did exist.
