        Sorry, mate...

... but this is a fake...! Have a look at the following thread for reference pics of characteristics of genuine FLL clasps: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=53273
        Cheers,

          Thanks Mike ,

Other than the crimping of the backplate I don't see what is different from a 2nd pattern. Could you elaborate or if the "pointers" are sensitive could you pm me the details?

I'm not disagreeing, just trying to understand why

          regards,

          Angus

            Hi Angus !

I have to agree with the Swede . I dont like this FLL CCC with that type of incrimp of the small plate .

Same here. Sorry Angus but this FLL tyĆ¼e CCC is generally regarded as being fake. Besides the backplate crimping I think that if you look at the MM you will find that the vertical stroke is straight and not curved as on originals.

                Details for comparison...

                Angus,
I know that this can be a bit hard without actually having the actual badges side by side, but the dead-giveaway is the way the backing plate is crimped-in. Other details to examine are the eagle's design, the swastika, and the "FLL" in circles mark (where the Ls should have a slight curvature). Furthermore, the badge in question here seems to be flat, whereas all of the FLL clasps I have seen have been quite vaulted. I hope this helps...!

                Fake FLL CCC markings:

And here is a good one:

                Regards,

                  Thanks guys!

                  Excellent info as always .

Mike, your maker mark explanation has convinced me its bad. Definately straight letters!

Just for future note: The badge is vaulted and the block hinge has been crimped in place but the catch soldered. I guess the fakers have evolved a little.

Looks like there may be another one for the fakes gallery soon if I can't get a refund.

                  Thanks again & best regards,

                  Angus
