    Hi Andreas,

It's a finer point of English but bears clarification. "Compatible" simply means "consistent with", i.e. the setup is consistent with Pforzheim as that hardware was used there as well. As I said, it's non-specific because other makers elsewhere also used such hardware. So the reverse setup doesn't confirm Pforzheim, nor does it rule it out.

But you also cannot say "it was used by all makers", just that it was used by others.

BTW, can you show other makers with this exact setup? It might be interesting to see the geographical areas represented.

    Best regards,
    ---Norm

Deschler in Munich (marked L/10 on the pin) seems to have been one for starters (posted by don in 2006)

          Hi Norm,

That is a logical connection, since we know that Deschler was involved with the "Vienna Design" IAB & PAB makers. The Deschler CCC design is the same one used by Rudolf Souval and Hobacher, so they are considered a "Vienna Design" user with regards to CCCs.

Also, Deschler is the "flatback" maker of CCCs! Deschler CCCs are completely flat (only CCC maker to not have a curved clasp), and Deschler CCCs also have rough reverses (like the other "flatback" badges). Furthermore, a single "flatback" PAB has been found marked with an "L/10" Deschler mark.

With all that said, Deschler is NOT the "flatback" maker, but there is a strong connection to whoever the flatback maker was. So it is logical that the same reverse hardware we see on the pforzheim maker WBs, we also see on the Deschler WBs.

          Tom

p.s., Norm, I had the same question you did of Andreas. Andreas, can you list the makers that used this EXACT combination of reverse hardware setup on their WBs? It would be interesting to see if they are all in Pforzheim or surrounding areas.

          Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

W&L, Mittweida, marked 100. (We know they outsourced their crimped silver wound badge production so hard to know if they made their own black wound badge.)
