      Hi Alex,

The CCC looks ok to me and my best guess, based upon the color of the set-up, would be that it originaly was a bronze grade.

        Hello Jazz,

Your pictures are not the best, but based on what I can see I would say that your Close Combat Clasp is a good one. It is a Bronze Clasp with it's finish gone.

          Hello Jazz,

Here is a Bronze FLL from my collection for comparison. The condition of this one is about the same as yours, i.e. faded out and worn finish, missing backplate, etc.

Just to make sure is the opening from the catch at the top?

                      Hello Jazz,
I don't understand this. Are you saying that the opening to your catch is at the top? That doesn't seem right. If the catch opening is to the top, then the Clasp would be falling open all of the time.

Sorry Alex, I haven't seen a good CCC with the catch opening on the top before and I also think yours lacks an awful lot ot detail.

                        But that's just my opinion.

sorry for causing this confusion........of course the catch is opening "nach unten" (could not find the correct expression). will try some better pictures.....ASAP

                            Hi guys,

Looks like an original second pattern FLL clasp. Typically, these are lacking in detail when compared to the first pattern FLLs (and pretty much all other CCCs). This is a typical second pattern, which appears to be Bronze.

I've also never heard of an original clasp opening up.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Who can tell me why some have fluted pins and others do not? What would be the obvious difference in the first FLL's and the later ones made other than quality of the medal used? Thanks SS
