Hello. This one's a hollowback and looks exactly like the steel issue types from front and back. I will be including more pics, so please wait before blasting it. It measures 45mm X 60mm and the base metal is some sort of copper mix base alloy.

Interesting! This is the second one i know of and the other one is claimed to be after a austrian veteran and still is in the family of the recipiant. This one is the first i´ve seen on decent pics though.Regards

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

Hi guys,
My gut reaction is that its a repro, based on the soft obverse details. Like Andreas, one I would like to examine in hand but not one I would take the chance on and buy without handling first.

Soft Details?
I'll try my best to post some better pictures, if possible, next to it's steel brother. I want to point out something though. The "soft" details are a known characteristic of these early 4 stems. The sharpness on the sprigs, meaning the lines going through the leaves, is sharper than the steel piece I have. I've had many badges like this in hand and am more than confident it's legit. It also has a great pedigree. It would be difficult to "fake" a hollow badge without losing something from the front and backside too.

Ok... More pictures...
Please allow me to post the next 20 some pics without interruption. It took a load of my time today and I'm not 100% happy with them, as all were taken indoors. Anyway, I have done my best, for now, to provide some detailed side-to-sides. I want to add a couple of points before I post them. The "C" catch was hanging on a thread when I inherited the bronze piece, so I clipped it off and grinded the rest down to the base plate. The pin is also replacement from an old brooch, so if that sets some minds to rest, there it is. Hans, I hope I have taken sufficient pics of the bayonettes and Nordmark, I can't disagree with you more. It was my Great Uncles badge and, yes, he was Austrian. The silver piece was a recent aquisition for comparison purposes.Attached Files
