    GAB Zincer or Clunker...

Pulling this one out of my box of dubious items for a fresh look and opinion...
Unmarked GAB from my early days.

Nothing dubious here, just a fine zinc "wurster" GAB. Look at the small w next to the hinge. The hook might be replaced though.

        Regards,

          Gab

Thank you for the confirmation... The embarrassment is in the 20 or so years that I have had this one I have never noticed the "W" . The hook is why I always had doubt on this one.

              Hi Michael,

I can only agree with the others, a very nice and textbook later-war Wurster GAB. Too bad about the repaired catch, but the rest is just fine and original.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                Interesting

100% that it is replaced Seems to compare to this one...

                  Hi Michael,

Its impossible to see the configuration of the catch shown in that linked thread. It could be a replacement also, but would need to see pics from the side like you provided to be sure.

Your catch shape and material looks different than originals, and you can see traces of filing and re-solder around the base of yours indicating a repair IMO.

                    Catch

In retrospect, you are correct about the other thread photos... Repaired it is.
