2 zinc GABs for opinions... L/1?

Here are two badges that I would appreciate opinions on. I am curious if someone can tell me who the makers are, badges are not my collection focus and I don't have an eye for the details as I know some of you do. I can supply more or different pictures if needed. This first badge is a zinc badge with good detail and most of the finish remaining. It is flat on the back. The catch is bent as you can see. Any comments would be appreciated.

Here is the second badge. Faded finish, less detail visible than on the first badge. The back is not perfectly flat, it has some of the contour of the obverse. It has a crimped ball hinge. The puzzling thing to me is the marking L/1. There is no trace of any number after the one, the mark is well centered. What am I looking at here? I am at a loss. Thanks in advance for any comments on this.

I'm really surprised no one has responded on any of these yet. I'll take a crack at the second one, it really looks to be a R.K. GAB with some one adding the L/1 later on and repaired hardware. If it was done this way it looks like it was done a long time ago as the patina of the badge and bubbling looks to be in the recesses of the stamp. I'd like to hear what others have to say

Thanks for the input. To me, looking at the finish on the hardware where it is crimped/soldered, it does not look like it was repaired. I could be wrong, certainly. Even in hand the finish and patina in the stamped maker mark matches the overall look of the back of the badge. Perhaps a fake marking added decades ago? Any comments on badge #1 also would be appreciated.

The first one is a Deumer the second one is a Rudolf Karneth with a fake stamp.

Hi Chhris,
I agree with Hans and both are nice badges with fair amount of finish left , can't comment on mark on the back of the RK gab but it does look like its been there some time.

First one is a later war Deumer in great condition, nice badge

Second one is indeed a Rudolf Karneth, but the L/1 mark is quite strange. Karneth GABs are probably the most common ones encountered by far, and this casts a lot of doubt on the L/1 mark being legitamate IMO. Also given the fact that L/1 is not a known LDO marking (they started at L/10), so this is another doubt on this type of maker mark. I would agree with Wyatt and Hans' thinking that this was possibly done post war for some reason. I also agree that the catch is a repair.

Thanks for the help, I am grateful. I have to admit, these pictures were taken by the seller. I'm keeping the Deumer, the other one with the mystery mark is going back. I really like GABs and don't have many, they always seem to sell too fast for me on the E-Stand or on dealer sites.

Karneth GABs are extremely common, I have no doubt you can find a nice one for your collection in less than a few days time.
