Special Grade Tank Battle Badge 100 Engagements

I just purchased a Army/Waffen SS Special Grade of the Tank Battle Badge, Grade V for 100 engagements (as per Forman's Guide page 69-91). Would appreciate any comments as to its authenticity (or not)

    Hi,

you will need to be an Association Member to post pictures on this forum. However you can upload your images elsewhere and link to them. Or, send them to me (stalwart@amberfisharts.com) and I will post them for you.

It sounds like the item you acquired is a Panzer Assault Badge for 100 Engagements. A particular version for the Waffen-SS never existed.

There are far more qualified members than myself who will comment on this badge. IMO, I don't belive this to be a good one.

          Hi,

from me too, sorry. The hinge/pin/catch and rivets are all wrong imo. It's probably a good casting. I certainly wouldn't want it.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

I also have to agree with the others. If you still can, return it. There is no way this is an original badge, it is too different from JFS originals.
            Cheers, Frank

On this page there is a 75 JFS, your 100 should look exactly the same, save for the number box:

I have the original poster's badge open in one window and the 75 listed on that page open right next to it... and I really cannot see any differences.

The clasp used is the same, the rivets appear in the same relative position, the maker's mark is in the same place, etcetera. The only difference that I can see is the difference in the size of the text at the front (but 100 takes up more space than 75 so that's expected, isn't it?) and the patination.

Perhaps you could indicate exactly which features on this badge are 'suspect' because I personally am confused.

                  Thanks!

(Comparing, as mentioned above against http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/war_...gallery/75.htm )

Checked as per Frank H's suggestion and my badge is ABSOLUTELY identical front and back except for the numbered box. Now I really don't understand why everyone is calling it a fake.

                    Cheers 24141

Guys (24141 and Harvey) IMO you really should train yourself in detecting differences.

If I may give you one good advice, start practicing with some IAB's and when you managed that try what you learned on some of the rarerst TR badges ever produced like this 100 PAB, and not the other way arround.

Take the PIN only as an example. It is so different, it screams out at you. If you do not see that, it is best you stop now before push comes to shove. Honestly.
                        Cheers, Frank

KR Phillipe. Either a badge is the same or it isn't. May I suggest you look again24141

Frank H. The thing that screams out at me is that the picture you are referring to is taken at an angle (see clasp) and mine is head on. If I turn my badge at the same angle bot the the pin and the cut outs at the top are identical. I suggest you need to look again.
