      I have an iab with the same front as the one Philippe shows but with a different reverse, two zinc plates crimped on either side of the hinge hold it in place. I bought it from Detlev some months ago, as im not able to post pictures here for the moment i can mail anyone of you some pictures off it if you want.

          The attachment is similar to the attachment of the hinge on a Hermann Aurich coastal artillery badge..

            Here is your IAB.

            It's completely beyond me why they changed these crimps so often, certainly taken in to account that these already were late war badges, but the two crimping types they used are consistent with what also can be observed on the late war Zimmermann PAB's.

            So perfectly acceptable variant IMO.

              To me the first badge posted is original, but the ones shown by Frank fake. The hinge attachment is different. On the first badge, the hinge is crimped in with overlaying metal.
