    GAB from SOS

Picked up this GAB from the Show Of Shows. With all the fakes going around, I just want confirmation that this one is good. I believe the hinge says it all. Pretty decent finish IMO for what I think is a late war zinc GAB.

      Hi hcliff,
I would have thought that the lack of detail would be a bad sign, but I am a novice and really posting for my own education so dont take my opinion too seriously.
      Best, Sal

          Hello Harry,

The badge looks good to me. This same badge can also be found with a crimped in ball hinge. Although unmarked, it has always been my speculation that these badges were made by Rudolf Karneth of Gablonz. Did you happen to buy this piece from Ray Zyla at the Show of Shows? The reason I ask is that I saw him at the show and I know he had several of these that he was selling. If you did buy from Ray Zyla, rest assured it is good. He is a very honest and reputable dealer. Here are a couple General Assault Badges for comparison. The one on the left is the ball hinge variant. The one on the right has the standard hinge crimp.

Thanks for the input so far. Sal, don't beat yourself up on it, we are all learning here. Tom, not sure who I bought it from; did not know him, but he had about 10 of these in a case all for the same price I believe.

                      Hello Harry,

Yes, that was Ray Zyla of Mowhawk Arms. He is out of New York. Very honest, friendly, and reputable. Reasonable prices too! Nice badge!

Don´t get upset people, but Tom´s right badge in his twin pictures is another example of the R.K. "chromey" front - matt reverse finish.
                        Cheers, Frank
