    PAB in Bronze Opinions please

I've been offered this Bronze panzer assault badge. It looks like a good one to me, but I am not very good with badges. Any opinions on originality would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,Dave.

Common "Toucan fake" PAB, the most common fake we see in the USA at shows.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                  Hi Dave......

......Try not to let your venture into collecting badges become spoiled by some inadvertent missteps. Many of us here have had the misfortune of buying FAKES and then finding out 'after the fact,' that crap was in our collections. I ended up with several FAKE turkeys over the years until the internet created this opportunity to vet badges, and learn of their characteristics. This enabled me to avoid the FAKES, as well as meeting some great guys here, that were willing to share their knowledge on these Forums. I'm still learning.

You did well to have them checked out in advance.

By the way.....most of my FAKES made some excellent, though pricey, targets for my P-85.

You seem to have an interest in PABs especially. Look up Philippe Debock's books. "The German Panzer Assault Badge of WWII" That is an excellent reference (and excellent would be an understatement." The two volume set covers all known makers, unknown makers, and their variants. It is a completely exhaustive work on this one type of badge. It tells you about the background and history of the badge and the construction methods used.

Next show you go to see if you can find a copy. I can guarantee if you had the reference books you would have been able to dismiss these badges you have shown as fakes.

If you love the hobby, dont just quit it now due to a couple mishaps. This is just an example of the research you should put into it. That is half the fun, the research.
