    Bronze PAB

This one looked good in photos, then I got it in hand for a close inspection. Also, I checked some recent threads and quickly got a very bad feeling. I have owned a silver "AS in triangle" PAB previously, and this one does not compare favorably. The base material may be copper alloy instead of zinc, and I believe the catch is different than known originals. Measurements are 32.1 grams, 63.1 mm high, and 42.9 mm wide. Need the experts to confirm my suspicions. Thanks.

      Hi Matt,

Another dud my friend, very crappy detail compared with originals. Also weird base metal. Its not an exact copy of any original "AS in Triangle", so I don't think its a casting but rather just a poor copy that tries to come close to the original design.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Crap, Tom - have I finally been "Staegemeired"? I guess it was only a matter of time. This one, and it's "EWE" mate, will be going back. Thanks.

On closer inspection with a loupe, the obverse does have some worn spots where the base metal is exposed - it is a silver/gray color. However, the largest "worn" spot is a recessed area where there would normally be no wear at all. This is another red flag on top of all the other issues mentioned above. I just wanted to correct my previous post and clarify that the base metal does NOT appear to be a copper alloy. Just an FYI for other collectors to watch out for in the future. Hope my mistake educates others. Thanks.
