Rudolf Souval IAB: good or post-war?

    Hi All,
Here's my only IAB, is it a wartime R.S. or Post-war? I searched here but could not find a wide "C" type catch with a narrow pin.
    Thank you,
    Rodney

        Thanks Peter,
This was my first Third Reich IAB that I purchased back in the early 80's. Would this be a post-war IAB using the original badge's die or a reproduction/fake? I've seen some original ones with the same smashed legs on the R and also with periods after the R & S (R. S.) and some without (R S). The flat catch is odd and I always felt uncomfortable with it.
        Thanks for your help!!

I agree with Daniel, this type of Souval badge is accepted to be original by most collectors and I have no problems with them either.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Thanks All , Daniel, Tom, Andy and Peter

For the help and determining the IAB by Rudolf Souval is an original piece. I was to afraid to post it on WAF because I felt it was a post-war/fake, for 25+ years thinking it was and not putting it in my display or pinning it on my M43 tunic... Glad I made up my mind to post it and get some expert help!!

                  Aloha,
                  Rodney

From what I have read about the maker mark as you mentioned. The concensus I got from some dealers (ones who I trust) is that some variations is still acceptable and that the lack of the periods between the letters and the bottom of the letters themselves could have been the result of a clogged die. Last one I saw available had the two periods but they were very faint and almost impossible to spot from photos.

                      Hi Rodney

I also see no problem with this IAB, looks very nice.

IMO flat wire catches are much less common than the round wire catches.

                      regards

Thanks Graeme, don't know how much this means to me that the IAB by R. Souval is real. Really had doubts on this IAB when the computer age came along. Rudolf Souval IAB was one of the ones that had I found to have a lot of fakes and post-war copies being sold. The catch really threw me off as I never seen one like it before.

Rob, the periods was a concern too, The "RS" also seen in two different styles.

Thank you all for your help !!!!!
