    Flight Clasp opinions

Hi guys I am looking at this clasp and would like you thoughts on it. It looks ok to me but would like opinions from some one more knowledgeable than myself.
    Thanks in advance David R.

Looks good to me as well. Fractures like these are not so uncommon if that is what worried you.

Looks like a nice early piece. In the rear view the right hand wing looks as if its bent back as well.

Thats a nice original IMO. The early bronze clasps often have a finish on them that gives an almost red look. Pretty badges. As Frank said, fractures and fissures from the die forging process are common on these early clasps...

                Bronze flight clasps

I am with Andy and the other guys on this one. I personally prefer the early, unmarked flight clasps and the bronze pieces are particularly distinctive since the color is almost a caramel in color. I don't believe you see this on fakes. Cracking is not unusual either, so not to worry on that point. I have attached below some photos of bronze clasps of various types from my own collection.

Hi guys thanks for all of the input! Frank I felt the clasp was good by the rivet and the pin and catch Etc: I did see the crack and felt that was a good sign( I have seen cracks on a lot of early badges). My only worry was the eagles head ,I have seen some I felt were ok but turned out to be fake and I have not quite sorted them out yet. Mike your badges are great thanks for the photos.Any one know what this one would be worth??

                      Thanks Again David R.

Around 300.- EUR is the current market price for a Tombak clasp like that.
                        Cheers, Frank
