    Bandenkampf Abzeichen

    Dear All,

Soem years ago I pruchased the following APB from Peter Lucas.
As you can see it was damaged by fire. This badge was found in a bunker together with some other stuff.

The rpice was very reasonable so I purchased it.

Some days ago I out some acid free oil on it and rubbed it softly and please see the result.

I know it is not new but..

Ps what is the brownish on the medal?

    Best regards,

    Rene

In my opinion, this is a rather low quality, cast reproduction.

                      Hello Rene,

I agree , the example that you posted lacks much of what I would look for in an original example.

                      - The detail to the piece shows signs of a cast example with soft details which give the piece look that it was hand cast.

                      - Metal composite is not like anything that I have ever seen used on a late war example, or any example of the APB

                      - The brown that you refer to does not look like a period laquer finish residue, looks like rust, which brings me back to the medal composition, question.

                      - The hydras, sword hilt , sunwheel all are not correct in accepted examples, soft in detail and wavey in details , or lack of.

Your pics are choppy, but you can still see these points clearly. The reverse of the badge is just a continuation of the obverse.

Just my thoughts on the example that you posted.

                      Best,
                      JD

                        Hi,

                        Many thanks your replies.

The award I bought from Peter v Lucas he even send me pics of the place this award was found.

I know it is not text book, now I am totally confused.

                        Best regards,

                        Rene
