    Ciney PAB

    Hi guys,

After the Stuttgart adventure my hopes to find something interesting at Ciney were not very high. Amongst the tons of fakes I don't think there where more than 6 original PAB's to be found on the tables of a couple of hundered stand holders.

However one of those six PAB's made the trip worth while. A nice bronze zinc L53 Hymmen & co. Already had the buntmetall version in my little PAB museum but never was able to find a good zinker. I guess this only leaves the silver zinker to complete another family.

...so this is the type of tank where the turred is pointed downwards to the infantry troops... your 526th one I believe...So why not call it "the infantry killer " type.

I find it personaly a nice one and certainly the way of pin assembely.
            Nice

                Hi Guys,

                Thanks for your comments

Here is something else to think about. Did anybody ever notice the design similarity between the Hymmen and the Daisy PAB's.

As far as I'm concernerd this isn't a coincidence. These makers did not only share the same designer but also the same production consultant and hardware supplier.

Take a look at this zinc hollow Hymmen offered on the e-stand by Matteo

And this zinc hollow Daisy by Alex

                Coincidence , I don't think so

With all due respect, the Hymmen is one ugly badge strictly from an aesthetic point of view. Ouch.

                    Hi Dylan,

Your absolutely correct it is a very strange design an you almost feel sorry for the impotent little tank The whole design lacks the crispness and agressiveness of most of the other PAB's with the exception maybe of the Trabbi design.

But on the other hand these PAB's have a lot going for them. Certainly the buntmetall hollow versions are high quality pieces of art. And besides that no other maker has such an accurate track design as Hymmen. Also the grass and rock design is much more complex than on most other PAB's.

I always had them at the end of my PAB shopping list but both the hollow buntmetall version and this heavy zinker were a pleasant surprise once I got to hold them.

                      Hi Guys,

Just received my first original picture of a PAB in wear. Rather than posting it on the picture forum I thought it was a good idea to post it in this thread since the PAB this guy is so proudly wearing is in fact an L/53.

You really can't go wrong in recognizing 'droopy gun the infantry killer" can you

                            Hi Dylan,

                            Tell me something

I was thinking if it would be possible to find a nice picture for every major PAB variant in wear. I think I'll give it a try, should be a nice challenge. I'll keep you posted of my progress
