    Gab 25

    Hi Guys

Would appreciate some opinions on this RK 25 GAB I have, I am hoping it is good but it appears the catch has been repaired and also the hinge is a little loose so perhaps whole setup repaired?

    All opinions appreciated, many thanks!

        Hello Patrick

I am not sure on this one. What I do not like is:

the rivets, especially the rivets on the bottom close to the catch.

On obverse the eagle, the grenade and bayonette seem to be out of dimension, they appear to large for me.
I would expect on an original RK GAB that there is a space between the eagle and the wreath, but on this one the eagle ( grenade & bayonette) exactly fit into the wreath without that space.

Also the number 25 is not correct, the figures do not match exactly to what they should look like.

Very interesting what others might think about it.
        Kind regards
        Martin

          Hi Patrick,

Strange piece indeed. Imo the set up has been replaced, the catch repaired and a new numbered box was put in.
          Kind regards,
          Giel

Thanks for the comments guys, for sure an odd one. I agree with the number box- it is very different from the usual RK one, I hadn't noticed that before. Does anyone recognise it? from another real badge?

The catch has definitely been repaired however the pin looks pretty close to what I see on other numbered RK badges
