Hard to tell without a pin and catch.

Nothing special, but It is meant to be an unmarked L/56.

Reverse surface looks a little soft, but the pics are not the best, so hard to make an accurate judgement on originality. It is certainly the worse for wear

      cheers

yeah, pics aren't the best, I'm fairly confident it's original. the head is definately much more detailed than it appears...I'll try to get some natural light images tomorrow

what indicates it as an L/56?

          Hello Brig

Graeme is referring to the LDO number assigned the maker Funcke & Bruninghaus which is L/56. There are marked F&BL examples (L/56) and unmarked examples such as the one you post.

As stated, better pics are needed to confirm originality.

          Best Regards, fischer

            Hi Brig,

I agree with the others, looks like an unmarked F&BL IAB. The obverse design is quite distinct and matches L/56-marked IABs, so that is where the connection comes in.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
