Not my main area of interest but from what I see I like. The only thing I do not like is the two cracks on the end of the grenade. Not sure if better pictures would help with that. What do they look like to you? A shot of the end so we can see the catch from would also be of help.

I don't like the way everything fits together.

        Shouldn't the eagle be hollow?

In Frank's book it seems that the eagle is solid, and the granate and bayonet are hollow. The only things that look suspicious to me is the two cracks that Dennis GT has spotted (nice spotted) and that the bayonet does not fit. Is it me or is the K in RK incomplete??

No - it is me - looks like the RK mark is complete

No other opinions ? Usually when a numbered badge is posted for opinions there is a stream of opinions.I have researched these badges & it does look like a good one to me.I just wanted help from some of the more experienced & knowledgeable members.

                  thanks,
                  Mike

Dave , thanks for the links , I am with Wayne on the fit of the eagle & bayonet
they do not fit tight to the wreath. What are your thoughts on that aspect of this badge?

                        Pfft don't ask me Mike, I haven't a clue I'm afraid

I just tried a search to see if I could find any other badges with the grenade flaws that have been deemed original.

It would be great if you could post a simular sharp photo of the obverse as well. It's hard to see any details. A close up of the catch would be excellent as we would be able to see the stress marks on there.

From what I see there are some differences especially when it comes to the hinge and pin but I'd like to think this is an original piece.
                          Kind regards,
                          Giel

I had started another thread on this same GAB 50. Here's a cleaner shot of the front.

From these images it looks to be an original. Detailed shots of the side of the catch will probably confirm its originality.
                              best wishes,
