(SOS) Young Guys with the iPads...

Based on what they were looking to buy, I suspect this might be a good place to ask...

At the SOS, there were a couple of younger gentlemen shopping the show and making great use of their iPads in the process. Basically, they were toting around their photo archives on these devices and had the ability to make side by side comparisons on the show floor. Needless to say this was an "Aha" moment for me.

If either of you two guys are reading this, please PM me.

    Thanks

That would be Chad and Chris Garbis. They were hitched a few years ago and make a cute couple, walking around the show together

The pictures are not bad on an iPhone, it must be very nice with the iPad!
        Kind regards,

            ...

The young folks are way ahead ....

Someday we will have our reference books on iPads, to easily refer to.

Best to keep all the knowledge in your head ...................

............... you carry that around everywhere.

And the batteries don't run out.

Yes that was Chad & I...

It really does help for just a quick referense in case you forget something. I have a lot of knowledge in my head as well but it never hurts to check your fakes folders when your at a show.

                Regards,
                Chris G.

I thought you were trisexual But hey way to use the tech, too much partying in the 70's & 80's & 90's & 00's into this new decade have taken a toll on the old brain.Breaking up with Chad must be hard, but Tiffany is sure worth it. See ya Saturday and congrats
                    Take care,
                    Frank

There'll be a couple more iPads on the floor next year, I'm sure. I used to use an iPod touch (like an iPhone), but I don't do much badging at the shows any more. I pretty much know what I'm looking for and stick just to that and the knowledge in my head. As for knowledge vs iPad, the iPad doesn't suffer from a hang-over.
And Chris is living two lives.

Well...make me three. I used mine to help me on various things...including a nice ummarked JFS 25 PAB in silver.

This was the first show I used it at and the overall reaction I got was mostly puzzled looks. A few of the 'old guard' thought it was a fantastic idea, and I must say it really assisted me in making sound purchases.

I think that it is important to do everything you can do to stay one step ahead of the fakers and the peddlers that sell their wares.

I suspect that we will see a few more Ipad's at next years SOS.

                            on point

how many times have I taken a piece home thinking it was "textbook" when finally comparing it to reference materials...

In this day and age, there is no excuse for getting burned when buying badges. It's like "voluntarily being blind" when you do not use these devices. Same as carrying a book, but 1,000x lighter. And the cost pays for itself 100x over. Invest in Apple stocks! Writing is on the wall.
