    Driver's Proficiency Badge Original?

    Hello men,

I just picked up this driver's badge, and don't know a thing about them. I've done some searches and to my knowledge this looks OK I guess. It has similar pebbling as does a wound badge. What are your opinions? And, can anyone guess the grade? It's non-magnetic.

Looks good to me, don't recall ever seeing repros of these, but I'm sure someone makes them. Grade is anyones guess, just look for traces under a jewelers loop. Maybe slight traces of gold, but you are in a better position to make that call.

I have a 10X loupe, and my best quess would be silver. But it's hard to be certain as zinc absorbs washes over time. Silver is still just a guess.

      Thank you!

Yeah and that's about all you can do is guess, zincers are unforgiving to the finish.

          Thanks Dave,

It's originality was my real concern.

          My best,

Mint, with packets! Very nice examples. I think these proficiency badges are underated to say the least. A man sitting behind the wheel in a halftrack doesn't have much of a chance defending himself when ambushed.

Thanks Robert, I too believe these are under rated, but it's probably because there is no eagle or swas. Let's face it, not much of a design there, a steering wheel and laurel leaves.
