    .A.S Silver hollow zinc PAB with a twist

    Hi Guys,


    7 weeks and 4 days, thats the time that went by between the first pics I received of this badge and today, the day I was finally able to hold her in my hands.

    For a moment I thought I wouldn't get it but at the end everything worked out just fine.

    According to Mike, and I agree with him, the standard version is without a doubt one of the rarest PAB's ever produced.

    But this isn't a standard version it's a field modified .A.S silver hollow zinc PAB. Not only does it feature the partial cut-out grass but on top of that it also features the cut-out swas. The cut-outs are so professionaly executed that you would be tempted to assume that this was factory don, but we know better.

    So here she is my third cut out grass PAB with a twist for all of you to enjoy

        WOW!

        Must have been from a Panzermann with a lot of time on his hands, like sitting around in France in the spring of 1944 waiting for the Invasion!

                      Combine the probability of such rare reverse attachments WITH the fact that it has been customized.....probably one-in-a-million!

                      With that "cowlick" on the eagle's head...

                            I never thought that I would ever believe that a modified badge is desireable, but that one is a BEAUTY!!!

                            The cut-out is definately the work of a craftsman or someone with jeweler experience, IMO.

                              Thanks for your nice comments. Since I have been specializing a bit in PAB's this cut-out grass variant for me has become the most facinating of all PAB's. Most likely because it's a phenomenon we can't explain but also because IMO the quality of the work don on these badges shows how much their recipients loved, and were proud to wear them.

                              Untill know I have received 9 pictures of this variant in wear and was lucky enough to be able to buy the only three cut-out grass PAB's I ever encountered. For sure there must be more out there. So if any of you ever stumble over more photografic evidence please think of me. A copy of the picture and a blow up of the PAB in question would be much appreciated.

                              Untill now I know of the following types that where modified

                              .A.S hollow zinc
                              EWE massive zinc
                              Wurster hollow buntmetall
                              SC Porsche hollow buntmetall (most encountered)

                              Thanks in advance for any info you could provide me with
