    Bronze PAB

Picked this one up at the first day of SOS in Louisville. It is an unmarked variety with a slightly dished out reverse area. It has just a bit of wear to the high spots on the obverse. Patina is a nice dark bronze - almost brown now. Dimensions are approximately 60.3mm height, 42.3mm width, and 34.8 grams. Hinge, pin, and round wire "c" catch are all magnetic. Wanted to purchase the PAB two-volume reference book while at SOS, but they were selling for about $300, which is too much right now. Any ideas on the maker of this one? Thanks.

      Hi Matt!

What Andor says is correct. I hope you didn't pay too much for it as it is very common in the PAB world.

I wanted a representative example for my collection, and I paid what I thought was a fair price for an unmarked bronze PAB in such good condition. Definitely a better price than on any online militaria dealer's website that I am aware of. Thanks for your expert opinions and identification of the maker.

            Matt,
I am not putting your badge down as it is a nice example. However, if all you wanted was a "representative" piece you would have been better served obtaining a buntmental example as opposed to a zincer.

No worries - I enjoy getting feedback on this forum from members who are definitely more knowledgeable than me. Two PAB's, one bronze and one silver, will have to do for now since I have other TR collecting interests as well. A good early version can't be ruled out eventually though.
