    US $2,400.00
With that starting bid you should ask the seller for better photos.

    Cheers.

          Hello Gentlmen,

Pictures are inconclusive to evaluate the piece.

But, this line in't "Feel free to e-mail me with any questions before placing a bid"

Meaning ? Plus that price is to high, even if the piece is original.

            Hi,

I could be wrong, but the badge looks like a bronze badge to me, not a gold badge.
Anyway, a real gold example of this maker, with half of the finish, would bring $3,000.00 or more. I saw a real nice one for sale with about 75% of the finish and it was $4,000.00

              Hi Chris,

Your right, a gold badge would bring that price piont at least. I thought it was Bronze, my mistake.

After being informed on the grade, I would really like to see some pics. Has anyone tried to contact the seller ? Gut say no, eyes haven't had a chance yet, not crazy about the skull, but in all fairness to the seller, close pics are needed and a solid return policy.

I e-mailed the seller for pics as well as weight and dimension. I would say the piece has a strange character to the finish as the Obverse looks Bronze and the reverse looks gold. Could have been over worked in trying to color correct the pic ?

              JD

                I can't imagine.....

... dropping $2400 on this based on the photographs shown..... Having said that, there's many a key I look for in a genuine badge present. But, again, anybody considering buying this better get better photos first!

Heard back from the seller on the example that he is offering. It was ground dug, found with a medal detector.

Here is a link to the full pics which also include a Silver APB that was also ground dug.

If they were in the ground for 60 years why do they have so much of the finish on them still? Every zinc badge that I have ever seen that was ground dug had lost its finish.

I might have guessed stored in a cardboard box in a barn...but not dug from the ground. If that is his story

There is also a characteristic on this badge on the lower left that I would look for in a good APB but I have a bad feeling about the snake on the extreme left hand side. Also can't tell if the common twist is there also...a side on view would be useful. Definitely not a gold grade IMO.

It's a lot of money to throw away.

Definitely one for the touch test.

                          Hi Martin!

Would you mind sharing with us, the characteristic on the lower left, that you
see on this badge that you like and look for?
                          Thanks! Chris
